Fire in Cannock Office Block

Crews from Cannock, Stafford and Penkridge were called to a fire in an office block in Bridgetown yesterday.

"All businesses have a responsibility for fire safety under the Fire Safety Order to complete a fire risk assessment."

Risk Reduction Manager for Cannock, Neil Griffiths

The call was received at 8.55am reporting that the first floor offices on Walsall Road were well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one hose reel jet and the aerial ladder platform from Stafford was also used. The incident was closed at 1.40pm.

An investigation established that the fire was caused accidentally by faulty cabling.

Risk Reduction Manager for Cannock, Neil Griffiths said: "All businesses have a responsibility for fire safety under the Fire Safety Order to complete a fire risk assessment – last year alone we attended nearly 350 fires in commercial premises, which highlights just how important it is to reduce the risk of a fire occurring."
