Fire and rescue crews from Burslem, Kidsgrove and Longton attended a fire at a property on Samuel Street in Packmoor last night at around 11.30pm.

“We would urge people to ensure that used cigarettes are put out properly and disposed of in a suitable way.”

Fire and rescue crews from Burslem, Kidsgrove and Longton attended a fire at a property on Samuel Street in Packmoor last night at around 11.30pm.

The incident involved some towels and a mop head that had caught fire due to a discarded cigarette. 

Station Manager, Mick Daniels said: “We would urge people to ensure that used cigarettes are put out properly and disposed of in a suitable way.”

Firefighters led two people to safety.  One female casualty was given oxygen therapy for smoke inhalation and transported to hospital by land ambulance.

The incident was closed at 12.35am.
