A group of five firefighters from Longton Fire Station are in training for a 500 mile bike ride from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower, Paris!
The event will start on 7th September, and will involve firefighters cycling all the way to Paris in just four days.
As apart of their training, last weekend the team were in Tesco, Longton where they were on static bikes raising money. So far the team have already raised over £2,000 for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice and The Fire Fighters Charity.
"Even though we are all keen cyclists this is still going to be a real challenge as we have never completed anything over such a long distance before."
Crew Manager, Jason Heath
Crew Manager, Jason Heath, who has organised the charity ride, commented: "We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has already shown their support by sponsoring us for this challenge. The team are training really hard at the moment, cycling over 200 miles every week in preparation.
"Even though we are all keen cyclists this is still going to be a real challenge as we have never completed anything over such a long distance before. It’s a great opportunity for us to put our hobby into use and raise some money for two great causes. We are planning to revisit Tesco in the coming weeks so look out for us training on our bikes!"
