Stoke-on-Trent Risk Reduction will be in the Pinnox Street area of Tunstall on Tuesday 29th of June to discuss any concerns regarding fire with the local community, offer advice and carry out free Home Fire Risk Checks.
"Any fire is distressing, especially fires in the home, we know that and want to do everything we can to support anyone affected by fire."
Risk Reduction Manager, David Steele
The Risk Reduction team will be in Tunstall all day from 9.00am – 5.00pm and will be offering advice to the residents. Neil Cheshire, Risk Reduction Officer said: "We have seen an increase in incidents in the Tunstall area and simple things such as leaving bins in the street can increase the risk of homes becoming a target for deliberate fires.
"We are holding this event to help put people’s minds at rest and also to help identify potential fire hazards and answer any questions."
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be implementing a new policy from July 1st called ‘After The Fire’ which is designed to provide reassurance to communities affected by fire.
Risk Reduction Manager David Steele said: "We decided to create this new policy to help those people who have been affected by both deliberate and accidental fires. Any fire is distressing, especially fires in the home, we know that and want to do everything we can to support anyone affected by fire."
The event on Tuesday will be one of many more to come and the ‘After The Fire’ policy will apply to anyone affected by any fires, big or small: "After a fire has happened, we will contact the people involved," said David, "We will offer our support and be on hand to answer any questions they may have."
