Crews from Hanley and Burslem were called to a fire in a derelict building on Balfour Street in Hanley this morning at 5.30am.
The kitchen area of the building was well alight and the fire had also spread to the outbuilding of the adjoining property and roof. Both affected buildings are derelict properties.
Firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, which was started deliberately.
Station Manager, Rob Barber said: "We would like to remind people of the hidden dangers of entering derelict buildings and setting fires, as they are not only endangering surrounding buildings and members of the public, they are putting themselves in danger."
The incident was closed at 6.30am.
