Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

Firefighters at Heroes Event

This Sunday Stafford firefighters will be in Stafford Town Centre joining in with the fun at the Heroes Day event.

“We are delighted to be taking part in the event by teaming up with local heroes and helping to raise money for such a great local charity."

The event, which will run from 11am until 3pm, has been organised by the Guildhall Shopping Centre and will see ‘heroes’ from local emergency and military teams come together to raise money for Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.

Firefighters will be on hand with two fire engines including their specialist aerial ladder platform appliance giving out fire safety advice and speaking to families. The event will also include displays from cadets, marching bands, helicopter simulator rides, information displays and a possibly a flying visit from the Red Arrows!

Stafford Watch Manager Ian Moss commented: “We are delighted to be taking part in the event by teaming up with local heroes and helping to raise money for such a great local charity. Firefighters will also be staging some practical displays, showing people around the fire appliances and giving out safety advice to help keep all the family safe.”

Other partners at the event include Staffordshire Police, MOD Stafford, Staffordshire Regiment, Air and Ground Aviation, Pipe and Drums of Black Watch and Staffordshire Search and Rescue.

Anne Graham, Marketing Manager at the Guildhall Shopping Centre said: "The Heroes Day is one of three summer events that the Guildhall is organising for Sundays in July and August.   We are keeping our fingers crossed for a fly past by the Red Arrows although this cannot be confirmed until just before the day.  The intention of the day is to showcase the fantastic work these organisations undertake as well as raise public awareness and demonstrate career opportunities.  The event is free to attend but any funds raised on the day will be in support of the Donna Louise Children's Hospice.”
