Rising Brook Community Fire Station launched its ‘Meet The Neighbours’ initiative yesterday and received visits from 65 people in just two hours.
"The station will be open to the local community every weekday from 2pm and this will continue each weekday until August 27th."
Watch Manager, Chris Hughes
Members of the local community had the chance to meet the Rising Brook crew, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford and tour the brand new station yesterday.
The ‘Meet The Neighbours’ initiative will be running weekdays until August 27th from 2pm-4pm and members of the local Rising Brook community are invited to come into the station for a chat and a cuppa.
Watch Manager, Chris Hughes said: "We have launched the ‘Meet The Neighbours’ initiative because we want to get to know our local community as this is after all a Community Fire Station.
"We were delighted with the turnout yesterday and it was wonderful to meet everybody and have a chat, we also showed a lot of people around the station and they got the chance to meet the crew.
"We had quite a few children visiting yesterday and several of them commented how excited they were to be starting back at school in September with a brand new fire station next door. They are really looking forward to using our new community room facilities as part of their education.
"The station will be open to the local community every weekday from 2pm and this will continue each weekday until August 27th so if you didn’t get chance to pop along yesterday there’s still plenty of time left. Also, if anyone wants to come back for further visits then please feel free to, it will be nice to start seeing familiar faces around the station."
Rising Brook Community Fire Station went live at the start of the month and was the first fire station to open as part of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Private Finances Initiative (PFI) project.
