An elderly male has suffered burns after accidentally setting fire to himself with a cigarette.

One fire crew from Burslem attended the incident on Hough Hill, Brown Edge, Staffordshire Moorlands, following an emergency call at approximately 6.30am this morning.
Station Manager, Mark Wilson said: "Although we do not know the exact circumstances around this incident at the moment, we’d like to remind people to take extra care when smoking at home. Cigarettes can very easily and quickly catch alight to clothing and bedding."
The 83 year old was transported to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire by land ambulance.
