A staggering 620 people have visited Rising Brook Community Fire Station since the ‘Meet the Neighbours’ initiative was launched at the start of the month.
"Even though the meet the neighbours events have now finished it is important for local people to be aware that this new station is very much community based and they should feel welcome to pop in."
Members of the local community have been invited to pop into the station on weekdays between 2pm and 4pm to meet the crew, tour the brand new Community Fire Station and have a cuppa.
Rising Brook Watch Manager, Chris Hughes: “We were delighted to see so many people taking an interest in the new Community Fire Station – on the first day alone we had 65 visitors!
“We had expected that most people would come on the first day, however numbers have remained fairly consistent across the three weeks and we have seen a number of people multiple times. We’ve also had staff visits on weekday mornings to give them the opportunity to see the Service’s first brand new community fire station.”
The Rising Brook Community Fire Station went live on Monday August 2nd and the crews have so far attended over 40 incidents.
Chris Hughes added: “Even though the meet the neighbours events have now finished it is important for local people to be aware that this new station is very much community based and they should feel welcome to pop in. We want local people to get to know the crew and vice-versa.
“Upcoming activities we have planned include teaching lessons to Year 7 pupils from Stafford Sports College, health walks, in conjunction with Stafford Borough Council and visits from a local youth club.
“We also have the community room available for booking and this seats up to 20 people. This can be booked for free between 9am – 10pm weekdays and 9am-5pm on weekends, just call us on 01785 898549.”
Partner and community groups can book the new Rising Brook community room by ringing 01785 898549 during office hours.
An official opening ceremony for Rising Brook Community Fire Station will take place on Friday 3rd September.
