Bungalow Fire in Fenton

Crews from Longton and Hanley were called to a fire at a bungalow on Burnham Street in Fenton at 8.20pm last night.

"The fire is now under a joint investigation between Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Staffordshire Police."

Station manager, Ian Read

The call was received from a concerned neighbour in a nearby street, who could hear the smoke alarm activating at the property and see smoke coming from the window.

Firefighters arrived on scene and made a forced entry through the front door where they found four separate seats of fire in the living room. It was also then established that the occupant, an elderly male, was not home.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet. Station manager, Ian Read said: "There has been damage to the carpet and furniture as well as some light smoke damage.

"The fire is now under a joint investigation between Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Staffordshire Police."

Crews left the scene at 10.15pm and fire investigation officers returned alongside scenes of crime officers this morning at 8.30am.
