Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service - Preventing, Protecting, Responding

Be Fire Safe and Energy Efficient

home energy checks

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has joined forces with East Staffordshire Borough Council to jointly promote fire safety and energy efficiency in the home.

"This is a great opportunity for us to work alongside the East Staffordshire Borough Council to also help identify ways in which people can be more energy efficient to help save them money, reduce fire hazards and reduce their carbon footprint."

Watch Manager, Jim Bywater

Fire crews will proactively be carrying out door to door visits in the Anglesey area from November 1st to offer residents a free Home Fire Risk Check. The check will also determine if the occupier qualifies for an energy efficiency check. The occupier will be required to fill out an energy efficiency questionnaire which will be sent to the ‘Beat the Cold’ organisation who will then contact the occupier to discuss further.

Watch Manager, Jim Bywater said: “The crews always try to have an active presence in the local community to promote fire safety messages. This is a great opportunity for us to work alongside the East Staffordshire Borough Council to also help identify ways in which people can be more energy efficient to help save them money, reduce fire hazards and reduce their carbon footprint.”

There will be an open day at Burton Fire Station on November 18th from 2pm until 4pm for members of the local community to attend to find out more information.

The Queen Street Community Centre will also be holding open mornings every Wednesday from 9.30am to 12.30pm where firefighters will be in attendance to answer any questions relating to the scheme.
