Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is offering one good Samaritan the chance to win a relaxing spa day for two at Moddershall Oaks.
“One great and valuable act of kindness is making sure your elderly relatives and neighbours are safe from fire by arranging a free Home Fire Risk Check for them."
National Kindness Day takes place on Saturday November 13th and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is hoping the day will mark the start of a winter of kindness towards the elderly in the Staffordshire community.
As part of the Older Persons Campaign (see Notes to Editor), the Service has launched a National Kindness Day competition on its Facebook page and is calling for people to nominate themselves or someone they know whose kindness has had a positive effect on an older person’s life.
Julie Tanner, External Communications Manager said: “It could be a random act of kindness, such as helping an elderly person with their shopping off the bus or it could be something regular such as weekly visits or keeping their garden tidy. Whatever it is we want to know what people do so we can share and encourage more people to do the same!
“One great and valuable act of kindness is making sure your elderly relatives and neighbours are safe from fire by arranging a free Home Fire Risk Check for them. Not only will you be doing your bit to help you will also have peace of mind that they are safe from fire in their home.”
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants need to ‘like’ Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s brand new Facebook Fansite page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Staffordshire-Fire-andRescue/103694959695016 and post their Kindness competition nomination on the wall by Friday 28th January 2011.
