Gnosall Fire Station to be Refurbished

09/11/2010

The people of Gnosall are set to benefit from a refurbished fire station, complete with a community room. Refurbishment work has now started at Gnosall Fire Station to improve the existing facilities and introduce new ones.

"The community facilities will allow us to welcome the people of Gnosall into the station and carry out even more pro-active work, with the ultimate aim of reducing the number of deaths and injuries from fires."

Assistant Area Commander for Stafford, Paul Richins

The current station, on Wharf Lane, will be modified in phases, to allow personnel to continue working onsite with minimal disruption to their daily work and the surrounding community.

Two extensions will also be built to the side and rear of the existing station to allow for a community room and female firefighter facilities.

Assistant Area Commander for Stafford, Paul Richins said: "Unfortunately the station, which was built in 1967 is ageing and is proving costly to maintain in its current state, so we’re delighted that these much needed works are going ahead. This refurbishment will allow us to modernise the station, providing improved facilities for the firefighters and new community facilities for the public.

"The community facilities will allow us to welcome the people of Gnosall into the station and carry out even more pro-active work, with the ultimate aim of reducing the number of deaths and injuries from fires."

Interclass have been contracted to undertake the £623,000 refurbishment, which is expected to be completed by March 2011.
