Fire and rescue crews from Penkridge, Brewood and Cannock attended a fire at a farm in Lower Drayton Lane in Penkridge in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The call was received shortly before 2.20am reporting a fire in a field in Penkridge. The fire involved approximately 100 tonnes of rubbish 20m x 20m that was well alight. Firefighters used two main jets with compressed air foam to tackle the fire.
The rubbish pile included wood, plastics and rubber causing a large amount of smoke in the area. The owner of the farm used a digger to dig a perimeter around the fire to prevent it from spreading to surrounding buildings.
