RTC on A5 in Gailey

Fire and rescue crews from Brewood, Penkridge and the rescue tender from Stafford were mobilised to a road traffic collision on the A5 in Gailey at around 12.30am this morning.

"We closed the road for safety whilst we inspected the tanker to make sure there were no fuel leaks. Fortunately the tanker was empty.”

The incident involved two HGV’s, that had collided, one of which was a fuel tanker that left roadway and overturned.

Watch Manager Paul Danby said:”We closed the road for safety whilst we inspected the tanker to make sure there were no fuel leaks. Fortunately the tanker was empty.”

Two male casualties were assisted to safety by the fire service and paramedics, they did not attend hospital.

The incident was closed at 1.28am.
