Crews from Cannock, Rugeley, Chase Terrace and Lichfield were called to Premier Autos on the Anglesey Business Park at 5.55am this morning after a neighbouring factory reported a fire in the garage.
"Thanks to the neighbouring factory calling it in, we managed to limit extensive damage to the building."
Station Manager, Mick Jahn
Firefighters made a difficult forced entry to the metal clad garage and found a car was well alight, the building was also heavily smoke logged.
Station Manager, Mick Jahn said: "The crews battled the flames quickly using one main jet and two hose reel jets.
"The building is detached which meant we could surround it from all sides to put the fire out as soon as possible and thanks to the neighbouring factory calling it in, we managed to limit extensive damage to the building.
"One car has been severely damaged by the fire and also appears to have been the origin of the fire. The fire is believed to have started accidentally, most likely caused by the battery overheating after being left on charge. Nearby vehicles have also suffered some damage."
Crews left the scene at 8.30am.
