Two crews from Hanley were called to Vivian Road in Fenton at just after 12.10pm today following reports of a fire.
"The fire has damaged the door, external electric cables and guttering and the heat has also cracked three windows."
A total of six people called to report the fire however it was unclear what was on fire until crews arrived on scene and found a wooden shed well alight in the back garden of a property.
Crews used one hose reel jet to bring the fire under control however it had already spread towards the house so firefighters had to force entry to the rear of the property.
Station Manager, Mick Daniels said: “The fire spread quite quickly and has completely destroyed the wooden shed and its contents, as well as two wooden fencing panels. The fire has damaged the door, external electric cables and guttering and the heat has also cracked three windows.
“We used thermal imaging cameras to check there were no hotspots within the house and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus ventilated the property.”
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and the incident has now been left with the police. Crews left the scene at 2.10pm.
