Accidental Fire in Kinver

28/01/2011

Fire investigation and scenes of crime officers have established that a fire in the laundry room of a detached property on Lockside Drive in Dunsley earlier today was caused by a fault in the washing machine.

"This incident highlights the importance of electrical safety and one key thing to remember is not to leave appliances switched on, even just on standby, when you’re not using them."

Station Manager, Ian Broadhead

Station Manager, Ian Broadhead said: “After a thorough investigation we can confirm that a fault within the washing machine sparked the fire - the washing machine had been left plugged in and turned on.

"This incident highlights the importance of electrical safety and one key thing to remember is not to leave appliances switched on, even just on standby, when you’re not using them and never leave appliances such as washing machines or tumble dryers active whilst you’re out or overnight."

The incident was closed just before 4pm.
