High Sheriff to Spend Day with Sandyford Fire Crews

03/02/2011

The High Sheriff of Staffordshire, Ian Dudson, will fulfil a lifelong ambition next week when he spends the day ‘being a firefighter!’

"I feel very privileged to be offered this opportunity to see first hand what the fire service does on a day-to-day basis and to be a part of that."

Staffordshire High Sheriff, Mr Ian Dudson

Mr Dudson will be put through his paces by the staff and crew at Sandyford Community Fire Station who have organised a series of firefighting activities for their VIP guest.

Mr Dudson said: "I am very much looking forward to spending a day with the crew at Sandyford Community Fire Station, it will be a great learning experience. If there is a call out, I will be accompanying the crews as an observer which will be very exciting. I feel very privileged to be offered this opportunity to see first hand what the fire service does on a day-to-day basis and to be a part of that."

Station Manager, Glynn Luznyj said the Sheriff is sure to have a day to remember: "There are various activities planned for Mr Dudson to get involved with including training with crew as they carry out their usual daily activities, and you never know, in the midst of that he could get called out on the odd fire call!"
