31/03/2011

Stafford firefighters have visited two youth groups to discuss the role of the fire service in the community.

"One of our main roles is youth intervention which involves building bridges between ourselves and youth groups."

TRV Firefighter, Mitch Stafford

The Targeted Response Vehicle (TRV) crew went to Wildwood Children’s Centre and Stafford Christian Centre and chatted to the young people about the types of incidents they deal with and the fire safety work they do in the community.

TRV Firefighter, Mitch Stafford said: "One of our main roles is youth intervention which involves building bridges between ourselves and youth groups. During the visits, we answered questions about how to join the fire service including the types of tests needed to be passed to be successful. We also showed the groups our fire kit and breathing apparatus sets as well as giving them a tour of the TRV.

"If there are any youth groups who are interested in having Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service come to visit them for a chat about fire safety and a tour of  the TRV please feel free to contact us on 01785 898519 or 07967 573549."
