Newcastle Building Fire Started Deliberately

A building fire on Marsh Parade in Newcastle was started deliberately Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has revealed.

"The incident has now been passed onto the police to continue with their investigations."

Firefighters from Newcastle, Ashley, Hanley and the aerial ladder platform from Longton were called to the derelict building, just after midnight, in the early hours of this morning.

Main and hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire and a search of the building has been carried out this morning to ensure there were no persons inside. A fire investigation then took place and it has been concluded that the fire was started deliberately.

Station Manager, Andy Kinsman said: "The main fire was extinguished earlier this morning however crews have remained on scene using a hose reel jet to monitor hotspots.

"A building inspector has also been in attendance as the fire has left the building structurally unsafe. The incident has now been passed onto the police to continue with their investigations."
