Deliberate Fire in the Moorlands

20/04/2011

Firefighters from Ipstones, Cheadle and Uttoxeter were called to a deliberately started caravan fire near to Peakstones Caravan Site off Holme Road in Alton last night.

"The message just doesn’t appear to be sinking in – if you start fires deliberately you are endangering your life."

Station Manager, Glynn Luznyj

A call was received at 10.40pm and on arrival firefighters found two large static caravans well alight. Two hose reel jets were used to tackle the blaze and police were informed of the incident after it was determined that the fire had been started deliberately.

Station Manager, Glynn Luznyj said: "This is the second deliberate fire we’re had in the Moorlands in three days. The message just doesn’t appear to be sinking in – if you start fires deliberately you are endangering your life, the life of members of the public as well as putting firefighters at risk and tying up emergency resources so why do it? This incident has now been passed onto the police who are investigating."

The incident was closed just after midnight.
