Uttoxeter Community Fire Station has attracted nearly 800 people since opening its doors last Friday.

"We were delighted to see so many people taking an interest in Uttoxeter Community Fire Station – on the first day alone we had 188 visitors!"

Assistant Area Commander for East Staffordshire, Pete Jones

Members of the local community were invited to drop in sessions where they got to meet the crew, tour the brand new community fire station and have a cuppa.

Assistant Area Commander for East Staffordshire, Pete Jones said: “We were delighted to see so many people taking an interest in Uttoxeter Community Fire Station – on the first day alone we had 188 visitors!

“We had expected that most people would come on the first day, however numbers have remained fairly consistent across the sessions.

“Even though the initial drop-in sessions have now finished it is important for local people to be aware that this new station is very much community based, we want local people to get to know the crew and vice-versa.”

Several groups have already made bookings for the room including the Neighbourhood Watch Crime and Prevention Panel, Family Support Service and Trent and Dove Housing Tenant Support.
