Leaders Pay Tribute to County Councillor Barrie Mycock

Peter Dartford, Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Philip Atkins, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, today paid their respects to County Councillor Barrie Mycock who died at the weekend.

“He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his partner, Sylvie, and family at this difficult time.”

County Councillor Mycock, who represented Churnet Valley for ten years, was actively involved in a number of local issues and was a member and former Vice Chairman of the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority.

Philip Atkins, Leader of Staffordshire County Council, said: “Barrie was rooted in the Moorlands and lived all his life in the community he served. He was a dedicated and hard working county councillor, respected and liked by his colleagues across the council and we are all shocked and saddened by his sudden and untimely death.

“His passing will of course be most keenly felt by his family and my deepest sympathies go out to them."

Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Peter Dartford said: “Barrie was a strong supporter of our Fire and Rescue Service and a keen member of our Fire and Rescue Authority.

“He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his partner, Sylvie, and family at this difficult time.”
