Lichfield Litter Pick

15/06/2011

Lichfield Student Firefighters will be doing their bit for the community this Friday by doing a litter pick.

"Litter not only looks messy, it is also damaging to the environment, wildlife and a potential fire hazard. The students are keen to lend a hand and support McDonald's with the organised litter pick-up."

Lichfield Risk Reduction Co-ordinator, James Hettihewa-Young

The seven 16-year-old students are helping to tidy up the area surrounding McDonald's in Lichfield, as litter can be a potential fire hazard, especially during dry weather.

Lichfield Risk Reduction Co-ordinator, James Hettihewa-Young said: "Part of the student firefighter course is to engage with local businesses and the community and littering is an issue in the area.

"Litter not only looks messy, it is also damaging to the environment, wildlife and a potential fire hazard. The students are keen to lend a hand and support McDonald's with the organised litter pick-up."

The student firefighters will be at the Conduit Street town centre McDonald's between 10.30am and 12.00pm on Friday June 17th.
