Barn Fire in Betley

Firefighters are currently tackling a barn fire on Church Lane in Betley.

The emergency call was received at 6.15am and six engines from Newcastle, Crewe, Burslem, Sandyford and Kidsgrove and specialist appliances from Stone and Cheadle are dealing with the incident.

When crews arrived the barn, which stores hay and is approximately 20 metres by 20 metres in size, was well alight. Firefighters are using four main jets to tackle the fire.

Group Manager, Ian Sloss said: "The fire has been brought under control; however these types of fires do take a long time to extinguish and so we expect crews to remain at the incident for a considerable amount of time."
