House Fire in Tamworth

Fire and rescue crews from Tamworth and Lichfield were called to a house fire in Wynyates, Coton in Tamworth late last night.

 

"The garage was completely destroyed by the fire and it had spread to the kitchen of one of the adjoining houses. Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading any further.”  

Station Manager Toby Wilson.

The call was received just before midnight reporting the incident. Fire crews arrived to find one garage that was situated between two houses well alight.

The occupants from both houses escaped from the properties unharmed. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one main jet and one hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.

Station Manager Toby Wilson said:” The garage was completely destroyed by the fire and it had spread to the kitchen of one of the adjoining houses. Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading any further.”

Firefighters left the scene just after 3am.

   The cause of the fire can be traced to the electrical consumer unit in the garage.
