Cannock Community Fire Station will be throwing opening its doors to the local community from 28th July and inviting people to come in for a chat and a cuppa.
"We are holding the drop-in sessions because we want to get to know our local community as this is after all a Community Fire Station."
Cannock Assistant Area Commander, Carl Mason
The drop-in sessions will run on July 28th and July 29th in two sessions – 10am – 12pm and 4pm – 7pm on both days. Members of the local community are invited to pop into the station, meet the crew and have a tour of the brand new station. Cannock District Council, Trading Standards, and the local Neighbourhood Watch will also be at the drop-in sessions talking to visitors.
The drop in sessions will be followed by a big Community Fun Day on Saturday 30th July from 11am – 4pm. During the day, members of the local community will have the chance to meet their local firefighters, Service mascots - Welephant and Blaze Bear, try out Zumba, witness live fire service demonstrations and climb aboard a fire engine, as well as many other fun activities.
Cannock Assistant Area Commander, Carl Mason said: "We are holding the drop-in sessions because we want to get to know our local community as this is after all a Community Fire Station. If you want to come along to see the station, meet the crew or even just to have a chat and a cup of tea then feel free to visit on either day or both days!
"The drop in sessions will build up to a community fun day on Saturday which will be an action packed day of entertainment and activities for all the family.
"This is a great opportunity for us to give the public a real insight into the Fire Service and for them to see all the different kinds of work we and our partners are involved in. It’s also a great way for us to raise awareness about the importance of fire safety in a fun and informal atmosphere."
Parking is available onsite for blue badge holders only, however free parking will be available on the day at the nearby Cannock Chase High School.
