Brewood Firefighters Help Set up Village Park

21/07/2011

Brewood firefighters dedicated an afternoon to helping complete the new Bishops Wood Village Park in Brewood this week.

"We were only too happy to help complete this community project and it was great to meet and engage with some of the children who will benefit from this facility."

Brewood Watch Manager, Paul Danby

The community project was all but finished bar 1,400 bags of bark chipping needing to be moved and spread out on the floor so the council made a last minute plea for help and a crew from Brewood stepped forward.

Brewood Watch Manager, Paul Danby said: "It would have taken about three days for all of the bags to be moved and distributed however we managed to get it done in one afternoon.

"Some of the dads of the children who will use the facility also pitched in with moving the bags whilst the kids started spreading the chippings across the park floor.

"We also used the opportunity to speak to parents about fire safety in the home and took some booking for our free Home Fire Risk Check service. If anyone else would like to book a free Home Fire Risk Check, they can do so by calling 0800 0241 999.
