02/08/2011

The newly refurbished Longnor Community Fire Station will throw its doors open to the public for the first time next week.

"We’re really pleased with the improvements and we hope they will be as impressed as we are."

Station Manager, Glynn Luznyj

A drop in session for the community is being held on Tuesday August 9th from 3pm to 6pm. No booking is required and people who come along will get a tour of the new station and will have the opportunity to find out more about the fire and rescue service.

Firefighters have been operating from the station grounds throughout the refurbishment however whilst construction was ongoing, members of the public have been unable to visit.

Station Manager, Glynn Luznyj said: "The firefighters have settled into their newly refurbished station and we now look forward to welcoming in the community and showing them the new facilities. We’re really pleased with the improvements and we hope they will be as impressed as we are.

"At the drop in session visitors will be able to look around the station, have a drink and a chat with the firefighters and find out more about what we do and what facilities are on offer for them to use."

Partners and community groups can book the new facilities, which seats up to 15 people, by emailing: northerncommunityrooms@staffordshirefire.gov.uk. or by ringing 01785 898897.
