Fox’s Biscuits Push the Button

07/10/2011

Fox’s Biscuits have joined forces with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service for Push the Button 2011!

"We are delighted that Fox’s Biscuits are helping us to promote Push the Button across Staffordshire and thank them for their kind donation and support."

Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford

Fox’s Biscuits, who have a factory and distribution centre in Uttoxeter, have kindly donated 40 packets of their delicious Fox’s Jam n’ Cream biscuits, which resemble the Push the Button official logo, for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to use in their campaign promotion.

Push the Button day 2011 will be October 13th and firefighters across the county will be out and about encouraging people to Push the Button on their smoke alarm by offering people free Home Fire Risk Checks as well as a yummy Fox’s biscuit if they’re lucky!

The Push the Button campaign is driven by the fact that although nine out of ten household have smoke alarms, a shocking seven out of ten don’t test them.

To raise awareness of the campaign last year, the Service recorded their own version of the Sugababes, number one hit single ‘Push the Button.’ Last year’s version by the ‘Sugaflames’ has an accompanying music video in which firefighters from across the County star and to date has had over 30,000 hits on YouTube and the Service’s website.

Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford said: "The video was an instant hit on our website and YouTube last year and the viewing numbers are still rising on a regular basis.

"This year we want to build on this message by asking members of the public ‘how will you remember?’ in an attempt to encourage weekly smoke alarm testing to become part of our Staffordshire resident’s weekly routine. We want to ensure that the people of Staffordshire are as always as safe as possible from fire in their own homes.

"We are delighted that Fox’s Biscuits are helping us to promote Push the Button across Staffordshire and thank them for their kind donation and support."

Stephane Roth, Marketing Manager at Fox’s Biscuits said: "We are very pleased to be able to support Staffordshire Fire and Rescue in what is a very important initiative. Our Jam n’ Cream biscuits are a great fit with the campaign and we hope they help to remind people of the importance of checking their smoke alarms, as well as being a delicious treat."

Also new for this year, members of the public who need a reminder can download our brand new smartphone app to remind them to push the button, every week. The app will be available to download for a small charge of 59p from 13th October, with all proceeds going directly to the Fire Fighters Charity.
