Tamworth Student Firefighters

A group of student firefighters will be awarded for successfully completing their course at a Celebration of Success event held at Tamworth Community Fire Station.

Firefighter Thomas Osbourne.

The group of nine students from years 8, 9 and 10 will carry out a demonstration to their family and teachers the practical skills they have learnt during the 12 week course. The teenagers are pupils at the following schools; Belgrave High School, Wilnecote High School, Rawlett and Kettlebrook Short Stay Schools.

Station Manager, Mark Walchester will be presenting the certificates to the students during the event.

They have attended the course once a week over the last 12 weeks at Tamworth Community Fire Station where they have learnt training and squad drills, knot tying road traffic collision extrication procedures, wearing breathing apparatus, hose running and pumping, first aid, fire safety in the home and fire theory.
Firefighter Tom Osbourne said: “The student firefighter course has been a fantastic experience which has brought out the best in the students involved. Not only have they learnt new practical skills but they have also learnt life skills such as communication and teamwork.  All students have really enjoyed their time with us on station and we are really proud of their achievements.”
