House Fire in Wolstanton

21/02/2012

Firefighters from Newcastle and Sandyford were called to a house fire on Lily Street in Wolstanton at 10.40pm last night.

"The fire involved a bedroom on the first floor of the terraced property and caused smoke logging throughout the house."

Station Manager, David Agu

A neighbour alerted the fire and rescue service after smelling smoke and hearing her own smoke alarms operating.

It was unknown on arrival if the occupants were inside so crews forced entry and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were sent in to search the premises whilst two hose reel jets were used to tackle the fire.

Station Manager, David Agu said: "Whilst the fire was being tackled and firefighters searched internally, the occupiers arrived home. The fire involved a bedroom on the first floor of the terraced property and caused smoke logging throughout the house.

"A fire investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire."
