Tours of New Community Fire Station

13/04/2012

Residents are invited to attend a drop-in event at Tamworth Mercia Community Fire Station on Lichfield Street, Tamworth next Saturday 21 April from 10am – 3pm.

"The drop-in event is a chance for local people who have not yet visited us at the station to pop in and meet the crew, have a look around their new community fire station and see what is on offer."

Tamworth Station Manager, Paul Richins

The new community fire station went live last November and the community facilities are available for use by community groups throughout the week.

Tamworth Station Manager, Paul Richins said: "The drop-in event is a chance for local people who have not yet visited us at the station to pop in and meet the crew, have a look around their new community fire station and see what is on offer.

"Our Service mascots Welephant and Blaze Bear will be attending to entertain the children and there will also be the opportunity for children to climb aboard a fire engine. A selection of firefighting equipment will be on show as well including the water rescue unit and targeted response vehicle.

"Our firefighters on bikes will be at the event to talk about the work they do within the community, using the bikes to access harder to reach areas. We will also be giving the first 50 people through the door a goody bag to take away and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

"We have already received a large amount of interest in the community facilities however if anyone else would like to come and have a look at what’s available before deciding to book they can come along anytime between 10am and 3pm on Saturday."

Partner and community groups interesting in booking the new facilities should ring 01785 898781. Slots are available weekdays from 9am – 10pm and at weekends from 9am – 5pm.
