The station, which went live in August 2011, was rebuilt as part of a private finance initiative (PFI) and was the seventh in the line of ten new fire stations to open across Staffordshire.

The fire station comes complete with state of the art facilities, including a dedicated community room which has been used over 170 times since opening for use in October.

Mr Dudson will unveil a plaque at the fire station on Hamil Road at 11.55am tomorrow and will then be taken on a tour of the fire station afterwards. The official opening ceremony will also be attended by local dignitaries and firefighters.

Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford said: “We are extremely proud of the new station and more importantly what it means to the communities we serve. This building represents a completely new way for our services to be delivered and provides a model for others to follow in the future.

“It’s wonderful that the local community has embraced the station, the number of people using the facilities has already exceeded our expectations. All three new community fire stations in the city have been a great success and considering that Burslem has only been open since October the number of community room bookings it has attracted is fantastic.”

Mr Dudson added: "I am delighted to be asked to officially open Burslem's new Community Fire Station. I am also delighted to learn that the new station is already capturing the local community spirit that is so evident in our city and in our county."

Bookings can be taken for the community room at Burslem which seats up to 18 people and are available from 9am – 10pm weekdays and from 9am – 5pm at weekends. Community and partner groups interested in booking the free facilities should email northerncommunityrooms@staffordshirefire.gov.uk or ring 01785 898897.
