Olympic Torch Fire Service Activities

East Staffordshire firefighters are attending a number of events to celebrate the Olympic Torch coming back to Staffordshire.

"There is a buzz of excitement across the area and the local events we’re attending are anticipating a high number of attendees."

The torch is returning to Staffordshire on Saturday 30 June and will pass through areas of Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth.

Burton firefighters are attending an event at Shobnall Leisure Centre from 12pm with a fire engine. They will be promoting the Service’s current safety campaigns – Celebrate Safely, Summer Safety and Flames Aren’t Games.

Lichfield firefighters are attending the ‘Cars in the Park’ event at Beacon Park in Lichfield from 12.30pm on June 30 and July 1 where they will carry out a road traffic collision demonstrations.

Tamworth firefighters will be attending the free Olympic Torch Relay event being held within Tamworth Castle grounds from 10am. They will have an information stand at the event and one of the Tamworth appliances will also be attending.

Station Manager, Mick Daniels said: "We’re looking forward to the Olympic Torch coming through East Staffordshire, there is a buzz of excitement across the area and the local events we’re attending are anticipating a high number of attendees.

"It's the perfect opportunity for us to talk to a large number of people about staying safe this summer and it also gives members of the public the chance to speak to firefighters about any concerns they may have or book a free Home Fire Risk Check."
