Guest House Fire Started Deliberately

An investigation into a guest house fire in the early hours of yesterday morning has established that the fire was started deliberately.

Fire and rescue crews from Cannock and Codsall, along with two crews from West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service attended the fire at the property on Bursnips Road, Essington shortly after midnight on Monday.
The incident involved two bedrooms on the first floor that were well alight when crews arrived. Crews forced entry to gain access to the the building as there was nobody inside the property when the fire started.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using one hose reel jet and remained at the scene for some time ventilating the property.

60 per-cent of the building has been badly damaged by the fire.

Anyone with information about the fire should ring Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 17 of 2 July. Alternatively, they can ring independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
