Burton Student Firefighter Passing Out Parade

A group of student firefighters will be awarded for successfully completing their course at their Celebration of Success event that will be held at Burton Fire Station on 13 July.

“All students have really enjoyed their time with us on station and we are really proud of their achievements.”

The group of year 10 students celebrating their success are from various schools in Burton. They will carry out a demonstration to their family and teachers of the practical skills they have learnt during the course.

Mayor of Burton on Trent, Councillor Len Milner will meet the students and present them with certificates before they demonstrate the skills they have learnt.
The students have attended the course once a week over the last 10 weeks at Burton Fire Station where they have learnt training and squad drills, road traffic collision extrication procedures, hose running and pumping, first aid and fire safety in the home.
Student Firefighter Co-ordinator, Andrew Stevenson said: “All students have really enjoyed their time with us on station and we are really proud of their achievements.”
“The student firefighter course has been a fantastic experience which has brought out the best in the students. They have learnt new practical and life skills such as communication and teamwork.”
