Haystack Fire, Six Ashes in Bobbington

Fire and rescue crews have been in attendance at an incident on Six Ashes road in Six Ashes, Bobbington throughout the night.

Fire crews from Kinver, Wombourne and Codsall were mobilised to the incident at 5.52pm yesterday.  The incident involved approximately 100 tonnes of bailed straw that was well alight.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet and beaters to prevent the fire spreading to surrounding fields.

Station Manager Dermot Hogan said: “It is very difficult to extinguish a fire involving straw therefore we had to monitor the fire and prevent it spreading.”

Firefighters remained at the incident throughout the night to continue damping down.

The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate.
