Firefighters rescue man from roof

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to an incident at Brewood Church on Dean Street in Brewood at 8.30pm on Saturday evening.

The incident involved one male who was stuck after climbing approximately 30m up onto the church roof. Crews from Codsall and Brewood attended the incident along with one appliance and the Rope Rescue Team from Stafford.

Watch Manager Paul Danby, said: “The rope rescue team secured one male using ropes to protect him from falling, then used the 13.5m extension ladder to make their way up onto the roof where they worked at a height to lower the man from the roof to the ground.”

The West Midlands Ambulance HART (hazardous area rescue team) team were also mobilised to the incident along with a paramedic and community first responders however he did not require medical treatment.

Crews left the incident at approximately 11pm.
