Man Rescued from Tutbury Flat Fire

A 28-year-old man was rescued by firefighters from a fire at his flat on Church Street in Tutbury late Sunday night.

"Yesterday we carried out a joint police and fire investigation which has established the fire was deliberately started. The police will now be continuing with their enquiries."

Two crews from Burton and one crew from Tutbury were called to the incident at around 11.06pm and on arrival quickly located the man, bringing him outside to safety.

He then received treatment from paramedics on scene and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The fire involved the front room of the first floor flat and has caused considerable damage.

Station Manager, Mick Daniels said: "Yesterday we carried out a joint police and fire investigation which has established the fire was deliberately started. The police will now be continuing with their enquiries."

Tutbury firefighters will be in the area over the coming days delivering After the Fire literature to nearby properties and offering free Home Fire Risk Checks.
