Cooker Fire in Kinver

05/09/2012

Fire and rescue crews from Wombourne and Kinver were called to a fire last night on Church View in Kinver.

“We’d urge people to ensure they remain in the kitchen at all times when they are cooking as it is very easy to get distracted and that’s when fires start.”

Station Manager Bob Preston.

The call was received at 10.51pm reporting the incident.

A neighbour heard the smoke alarm activating and went round to see smoke coming from the house and called the fire service.

Upon arrival firefighters discovered a fire involving a cooker in the downstairs kitchen of the property.

The fire started due to food that had been left on the cooker unattended and the occupant had fallen asleep.

Station Manager Bob Preston said “We’d urge people to ensure they remain in the kitchen at all times when they are cooking as it is very easy to get distracted and that’s when fires start.”

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire and ventilated the property.

The incident was closed at 11.17pm.
