Burton firefighters are holding a family fun day on September 23 11am – 4pm at the Moor Street Fire Station.
"We want to give people the chance to say goodbye to the current station and what better way than a day of fun!"
Station Manager, Dermot Hogan
It’s set to be an action-packed day with firefighting demonstrations taking place, including a chip pan demo road traffic collision demos, a live band, charity stalls, face painting, games and refreshments, with funds raised going to the Fire Fighter’s Charity.
The day is also to commemorate the end of era as the station is one of 11 to be knocked down and rebuilt as part of a Private Finance Initiative (PFI).
Station Manager, Dermot Hogan said: "The fire station is an integral part of the community in Burton and although we will over the next couple of years be having a brand new state-of-the-art community fire station built, we still want to give people the chance to say goodbye to the current station and what better way than a day of fun!
The event opens at 11am on September 23, free parking can be found at nearby WT Parkers which is accessed off Dale Street.
