Rugeley firefighters are holding a family fun day on September 29 10am – 4pm at the Bryan’s Lane Fire Station.
"We want to give people the chance to say goodbye to the current station and what better way than a day of fun!"
The day is to commemorate the end of era as the station is one of 11 to be knocked down and rebuilt as part of a Private Finance Initiative (PFI).
It’s set to be an action-packed day with charity stalls supporting the Fire Firefighter’s Charity amongst others as well as live fire service demonstrations, including a road traffic collision and chip pan demo.
A dance school will be entertaining on the day and the StreetStadia will be available to see and use.
There will also be the chance to see what life is like as a firefighter and try on breathing apparatus.
Station Manager, Ian Dawson said: "The fire station is an integral part of the community in Rugeley and although we will over the next couple of years be having a brand new state-of-the-art community fire station built, we still want to give people the chance to say goodbye to the current station and what better way than a day of fun!
"Entry to the event is free and parking will be available at Mansfield Working Men’s club next to the station."
