Special gates designed by pupils from Haywood Engineering College are to be unveiled at a ceremony at Burslem Community Fire Station next week.
"The gates lead to a small memorial garden which has been within the grounds of the station for nearly 50 years."
Station Manager, Ian Read
The black gates feature white silhouettes of firefighters in action and lead to a memorial garden situated in the grounds of the station.
The Lord Mayor Terry Crowe, will be attending the event on October 8 and there will be a short ceremony to thank the students for their efforts.
Station Manager, Ian Read said: "The gates lead to a small memorial garden which has been within the grounds of the station for nearly 50 years and was preserved during the re-build of the fire station.
"The garden was created by firefighters at the station in 1965, in memory of loved ones who had passed away, so it was important to the station personnel to ensure the garden remained intact.
"The students at local college, Haywood Engineering College, were asked if they would like to design the gates and the pupils involved will be attending the ceremony next week."
