Staffordshire’s Chief Fire Officer has taken up a top national role at the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA).
"I’m delighted to take up this position and look forward to the opportunity to influence the direction of the fire and rescue service at a national and international level."
Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford
Peter Dartford has taken up the position of Vice President Elect for CFOA. The role will see him progress to President of the Association in two years’ time. Mr Dartford will continue his role as Staffordshire’s Chief Fire Officer but will have additional responsibilities at a national level.
Chairman of the Fire and Rescue Authority, Councillor Len Bloomer said: “This is a huge honour, not just for Peter but also for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. We have a very high profile nationally as a fire and rescue service, for being innovative, creative and brave but more importantly being effective and providing excellent value for money for our communities.
“Becoming Vice President Elect is a result of Peter’s hard work, determination and leadership, along with his desire to share what we do and how we do it in Staffordshire, to the rest of the UK and beyond.”
Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford commented: “I’m delighted to take up this position and look forward to the opportunity to influence the direction of the fire and rescue service at a national and international level. There is much to do within the UK Fire and Rescue Services, as we are facing greater challenges than perhaps ever before but it’s a challenge I’ll embrace.
“A lot of the work we are doing here in Staffordshire is already being recognised at a national level and so I’ll have the benefit of being able to draw on my experiences and share them with the Government and fire and rescues services up and down the UK.”
