Five year six children at Christ Church Primary School in Fenton have been presented with £10 book tokens by Welephant during school assembly this morning, so winning a road safety poster competition.

“It’s important to educate both adults and children about road safety and the aim of the posters is to encourage drivers to slow down. All the posters designed were really good and it was very difficult to only select five winners."

Prevention Manager, Donna Broadhead.

The children were asked to design a poster aimed at adults in aid of National Road Safety Week, using the tag line ‘slow speeds = happy people.’

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service selected five lucky winners and their posters will be displayed on the Service’s official Facebook page.

Prevention Manager, Donna Broadhead said: “We had the support of local Councillor, Karen Clarke, to hold a poster competition to raise awareness of road safety week.

“It’s important to educate both adults and children about road safety and the aim of the posters is to encourage drivers to slow down. All the posters designed were really good and it was very difficult to only select five winners.

“Hopefully the posters will make people think twice before speeding, as speed can kill and our ultimate aim is to make Staffordshire’s roads safer.”
