The most common perception of the Fire Service is one of Firefighter’s riding in fire appliances and fighting fires. This is true, but in today’s modern Fire Service the role of a Firefighter is much more varied.
A Firefighter can expect not only to fight fires but also to attend road traffic collisions, provide assistance to Councils with floods, release people who are trapped in accidents.
They also engage a pro-active approach in community fire safety - explaining the risks of fire, fitting a smoke alarm and preventing fires and accidents from happening in the first place.
This self assessment test will give you a good idea of whether or not your perception of what is needed to be a Firefighter is correct. If you can answer yes to all of these questions then maybe being a Firefighter is the right career for you!
Although we do not currently have any vacancies for Wholetime Firefighter’s, we would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and invite you to visit our website from time to time for further updates.
