Uttoxeter Police and Police Community Support Officers have netted a prestigious award for their work in partnership with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The team of officers scooped the Partnership Award in the Fire Service’s annual MORE Awards.
The 2013 MORE Awards at the Stafford County Showground saw nine awards presented to staff or local partners in honour of the work they have done for, or with, the Fire Service over the past year.
Chief Fire Officer/ Chief Executive Peter Dartford said: "These awards are an important opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the remarkable efforts and achievements of our colleagues, partners and authority members.
"However, these are just a few examples of the many extraordinary initiatives that are being undertaken across our organisation on a daily basis - within an increasingly challenging environment - and which consistently deliver positive improvements to the lives and wellbeing of local people."
Uttoxeter Police and PCSOs took the Partnership Award sponsored by Kier plc for their excellent relationship with local firefighters. Officers regularly call into the station to exchange information or discuss their concerns about vulnerable residents and this has led to many successful referrals for free Home Fire Risk Checks.
PCSO David Higgs said: "We couldn’t have won this award without the support of the fire service. We have a very good partnership and both services have the same ethos, which is to help vulnerable people in our community."
