Specialist firefighting equipment to be showcased at Leek Show

18/07/2013

Firefighters will demonstrate a range of specialist equipment when they visit the Leek Show.

"The Leek Show is a really popular event in the town so it’s the ideal time for us to showcase our potentially life-saving equipment, fire engine and other vehicles."

Leek Station Manager Carl Mason

Crews from the town’s station will be on hand from 10am-4pm showcasing the potentially life-saving kit.

A fire engine, animal rescue unit and the four by four vehicle will also be on display in Birchall Playing Fields on July 27.

The team will be giving out top tips on how to stay safe, offering free home fire risk checks and encouraging younger visitors to sign up to the Welephant Club.

The ‘Teenage Caveman’ video will also be played. It is about a group of young people who get bored and think about starting a grass fire and the potential consequences they face in doing so. To view the video visit http://youtu.be/xINXFdZyh1M

“It is also a great way for us to meet the community and give them advice on how to avoid becoming the victim of a fire. We will be offering free home fire risk checks which are having a major impact on safety within the community.”
